Book Looks: A Conjuring of Light – V. E. Schwab

Title: A Conjuring of Light (2017)
Series: Shades of Magic – Book 3
Author: V. E. Schwab
Genre: Fantasy

London’s fall and kingdoms rise while darkness sweeps the Maresh Empire—and the fraught balance of magic blossoms into dangerous territory while heroes and foes struggle alike.

The direct sequel to A Gathering of Shadows, and the final book in the Shades of Magic epic fantasy series, A Conjuring of Light sees Schwab reach a thrilling culmination concerning the fate of beloved protagonists—and old enemies.

Read an excerpt…

Delilah Bard—once thief, current magician, and one-day pirate —was running as fast as she could.

Hold on, Kell, she thought as she sprinted through the streets of Red London, still clutching the shard of stone that had once been part of Astrid Dane’s mouth, stolen in another life, when magic and the idea of multiple worlds were new to her. When she had only just discovered that people could be possessed, or turned to stone, or bound like rope.

Kell. The word was an order, a plea. I’m coming.

My excitement for this book is through the roof. WHO’S READ IT YET? 💕

  1. AH that book look is PERFECTION, Reg ❤ And I can't wait to read it. I haven't bought it yet, but I'm hoping to get to it in the next few weeks…Hopefully I won't get spoiled until then ahah 🙂 Did you read it yet ?

      • I keep wanting to…coz everyone raves about it! It makes me wonder if the one with issues is me 😂 I love red…and it suits the whole theme of the book! Since if I’m not mistaken there is a magical red coat in the book 😉 I’ll prolly make another attempt at the book give it another go… since I’m still in limbo about my next read. Am trying to decide what will stick lol 😅

        • Eh well, if a book is not vibing with you, then it’s not vibing with you. I personally love (and would rave about) this series, but hey. 😛

And yes! There’s a magical red coat in the book. Now is actually a good time to read it, what with the third book already out and all that. And I understand – I actually haven’t read anything all of February. Life’s kicking me in the ass, truly. 😂

          • I totally understand the whole life ass-kicking.That was me last year…and sorta at the moment 😅 I think I lost the ability read anything complicated that requires a lot of imagination…it frustrates me when I can’t visualize something in my head 😂 Perhaps after March I shall revisit with the first book things should calm down by then 🙈

              • I hope things work out for u too, soon I’ll be kicking ass and not having it kick my ass so I hope you come to the same solution to your situation 😊 also it’s like a movie in my head when I read. So when I watch a movie adaptation and it doesn’t fit or is jarring it is like…”nopeeee” although sometimes the movie version blows my puny imagination to bits and I’m like “oh mahhhh gawd 😍” i’m soooooo rambling here 😂

                • Thank you! I’m moving back to Indonesia and it’s been CRAZY trying to sort everything out, haha. I’m definitely the ass-kickee at the moment. 😛

That’s pretty cool. I’ve never been a visualiser so movie adaptations generally sit well with me, unless they completely change the plot/characters. And rambling is always acceptable in my book!

  2. This is an amazing Book Look Reg, and I am so thrilled to see one for A Conjuring of Light as well (my excitement for this book is through the roof as well). I really love the outfit you picked for this book, I could definitely imagine that coat being something a traveller would wear, and I love the phone case as well.
I haven’t managed to start this boo yet myself. There are two more I need to get through first, but the second I am done I am going to be picking up ACOL and not putting it down until I’m finished! 😀 Have you started it yet?

  3. I avoided looking at the synopsis or excerpt because spoilers but I love this book look so much, Reg! I need that jacket, those pants, and that scarf. 😍
I really can’t wait until I’m able to start ADSOM. I’m in complete book hangover mode over The Song Rising at the moment. It’s the worst. 😣 Especially since I need to get a move on and read my other two review books.

    • Eep, thank you! The synopsis doesn’t have any spoilers (as far as I can tell), but that’s probably wise, haha – thank you for leaving a comment even though I’ve pretty much set out some ‘traps’. 😀

I hope that’s a good hangover! What other two review books do you need to read?

  4. I absolutely love this series and this look is amazing. I would 100% rock this if I could last more than about 15 mins in heels without feeling like my feet want to fall off. The coat is gorgeous!
