Book Looks: Mechanica by Betsy Cornwell

YA - Cornwell - MechanicaMechanica

I stumbled upon Mechanica by Betsy Cornwell while browsing around last week, looking for a book to read after I finish Egan’s A Window Opens, and was immediately taken by its utterly gorgeous, utterly captivating cover (pictured left).

How can I not? The dark, enchanting colours! The semi-silhouette of the pretty girl! The dragonflies flying around her! And shadows of gears, implying a steampunk element to the story? I’m in. Oh, I’m in so deep. I’ve always loved fantasies with a twist and this one seems to have what I would really enjoy. I’m inclined to let a book sit a day or two before I actually review it, however, so for now, you guys get the drill:

Dress | Clutch | Earrings | Bangle | Heels

Who else loves themed outfits? I’ve never been quite able to pull it off in real life (mostly because I have so many random accessories that don’t really fit into one neat category except for the category of ‘random accessories’), but I can see why it sometimes works. Thoughts?
